We know that how you feel about your appearance often affects your overall well-being. Our team of dermatologic clinicians and licensed aesthetician are here to help you achieve your best self through creating customized treatment plans using a wide range of non-invasive treatment options and products.
Non-invasive injectable treatments used to relax facial lines and wrinkles.
We all want to look our best, and for many patients, wrinkle-relaxing treatments called botulinum toxin injections are a great tool to look and feel younger! These injections help to soften the appearance of frown lines and wrinkles on the forehead, between the eyes, and side of the eyes or “crows feet”. The results normally last 3 to 4 months and gradually wears off.
Susong Dermatology offers various laser treatment options to remove unwanted hair, redness, and sun spots.
The Candela GentleMax system offers treatment applications for pigmented lesions.
The Candela GentleMax Pro laser is designed to treat superficial brown spots, freckles, melasma, and solar lentigines and is also effective in removing other brown marks like nevus and flat pigmented moles. Sunspots most commonly appear in areas that are exposed to the sun, such as the face, the top of the hands, and the feet. All these disorders—brown spots, melasma, and freckles—are successfully treated with the help of state-of-the-art Candela laser. This advanced laser system can be used on both women and men looking for better-looking skin.
Laser pigmentation reduction works by using an intense burst of light to target the pigmented lesions causing the selective healing of the upper dermis. The pigment can be precisely targeted without causing any damage to surrounding tissue or overlying dermis. After each laser treatment, a gentle wound healing response leads to new collagen formation and a clinical improvement to the treated area over time. The pigmentation/sun spot will gradually lighten and fade, slowly disappearing. Initially the treated area may seem darker and flaking is common.
Patients often need to undergo between 1 and 3 treatment sessions and can expect a 60-90% reduction in the pigmentation. The size, depth, and darkness of pigmentation lesions affect how many treatments may be required. The deeper the lesion, the more sessions that are needed and the greater the chances of it not completely disappearing, although its color and appearance can be greatly reduced. The number of laser treatments varies from one case to another. Most lesions disappear or become barely noticeable, but treatment doesn’t prevent new ones from forming. We always recommend wearing sunscreen on a daily basis to avoid further tanning which can cause new freckles and sun spots.
Candela Vbeam Pulse Dye Laser treats Rosacea and other vascular conditions.
Rosy cheeks are often regarded as youthful; however, rosacea sufferers may not view them so fondly. If you struggle with persistent facial redness or telangiectasias (those tiny dilated blood vessels), a pulsed-dye laser (PDL) treatment may provide you long-term improvement.
At Susong Dermatology, we use our Candela Vbeam PDL to target many different vascular conditions, including rosacea, hemangiomas, warts, vascular lesions, and port wine stains (vascular birthmarks). The Candela Vbeam is the gold standard for treatment of vascular conditions.
In most cases, rosacea patients need at least 3 treatments for the best results. The procedure takes 30-60 minutes with minimal discomfort (like a rubber band snap). After, you can expect slightly increased redness, mild swelling, and sensitivity (like a sunburn) for 1-2 days, and you’ll need to avoid sun exposure. You will see results within 2-4 weeks!
XTRAC Excimer Laser – treats psoriasis, eczema, and vitiligo.
The XTRAC Laser is an excellent and safe treatment option to improve the symptoms associated with psoriasis, eczema, and vitiligo.
XTRAC Excimer Laser is a clinically proven FDA cleared device that delivers precisely targeted UVB energy to stubborn psoriatic plaques and depigmented white patches of skin caused by vitiligo. Treatment sessions are quick, convenient and painless and are covered under most medical insurance policies.
Are you tired of shaving, plucking, or waxing? Do you get razor bumps or acne-like breakouts when you get rid of unwanted hair? If so, you may want to consider laser hair removal at Susong Dermatology. Treatments are fast and there is no recovery time. For best results, most patients need a series of 6 – 10 treatments.
Susong Dermatology utilizes the Candela GentleMax Pro which is the most effective hair removal system on the market. The GentleMax Pro utilizes two different laser wavelengths (755nm/Alexandrite and 1064nm/Nd:YAG) to customize treatments for all skin types. The laser beam passes through the deeper layer of the skin and is absorbed in the hair follicle. This in turn produces adequate amount of heat energy and destroys the hair follicle, resulting in semi-permanent hair removal. The Candela GentleMax Pro removes unwanted hair from the body leaving the skin soft, supple and smooth.
Removing unwanted hair may take 6-10 sessions spaced out by 4-6 weeks. Afterwards, the results are semi-permanent on most areas of the body (unfortunately, not on a woman’s face).
Many patients say that the laser pulses feel like warm pinpricks or a rubber band being snapped against the skin. Immediately after having laser hair removal, your treated skin will be slightly red and swollen. Most people return to their everyday activities right away.
You will likely see results immediately after treatment. You can expect a 10% to 25% reduction in hair after the first treatment! The color and thickness of your hair, area treated, and color of your skin all affect the results.
Most patients remain hair free for months or even years. When some of the hair regrows, it will likely be less noticeable. To keep the area free of hair, you may need maintenance laser treatments (every 1-2 years).

An aesthetic consultation can prove to be a vital aspect of your skin care journey. A consultation is ideal for anyone needing guidance in correcting skincare conditions and concerns or for those seeking professional advice in achieving optimum skin health. Upon arrival, patients will fill out an aesthetic general intake form. Taking into account the information provided, the medical aesthetician will discuss what treatment options are available; this may include the recommendation of combination therapies, and a complementary, corrective skin-care regimen, to help achieve desired results as quickly as possible.
Medical facials utilize medical grade products, designed by dermatologists, to cleanse, exfoliate, and nourish the skin, promoting a clear, well-hydrated complexion. Facials are perfect for addressing a host of skin problems and conditions including aging, acne, hyperpigmentation, and rosacea. Our facials differ from spa facials in that nothing is pre-determined before your appointment. We do not believe in a “one size fits all” approach. A medical facial is administered by our licensed aesthetician who not only understands the skin, but is also trained in advanced skin care to customize and facilitate an effective treatment plan, specific to your skin’s needs. Upon initial visit, patient will undergo a consultation, discussing specific areas of concern, current at home regimen, and skin health goals to determine a personalized treatment plan. On average, getting a facial once a month is ideal for someone looking to achieve and maintain optimum skin health.
Dermaplaning is a quick, painless, and safe treatment that provides patients with a healthier, smoother, and more radiant glow. It is a non-invasive, manual exfoliation of the epidermis and rids the skin of fine vellus hair (peach fuzz), increasing the absorption of skincare products, allowing for a more flawless makeup application. Dermaplaning offers a beautiful combination of overall skin rejuvenation and facial hair removal. Safe and effective for all skin colors. This treatment is also great for patients who are pregnant or nursing that want a deep exfoliation, but are not allowed to use peeling agents. Unfortunately, this treatment is not recommended for acne-prone skin. Dermaplaning treatments can be performed every 3-4 weeks.
A chemical peel is a procedure in which a chemical solution is applied topically to remove damaged or dead skin cells. Chemical peels contain different types of acids that have varying depths of skin penetration. Peels are used to improve the tone and texture of skin, and to treat certain skin conditions. Most commonly performed on the face, neck, or hands, chemical peels are a great treatment option for patients experiencing acne, mild scarring, sun spots, age spots, melasma, texture concerns, actinic keratosis (precancerous, scaly spots), fine lines, and wrinkles. Depending on the condition or concern being treated, more than one chemical peel may be needed to obtain desired results. Discounts are provided for those needing a series.
Microdermabrasion is a non-chemical, non-invasive procedure that uses a diamond dermabrasion tip to remove the outermost layer of dry, dead skin cells revealing younger, healthier-looking skin. This procedure is useful in treating acne, hyper-pigmentation (sun damage & age spots), scars, fine lines, wrinkles, and is a great option for those concerned with skin texture. Suitable for all skin types and colors, microdermabrasion provides patients a safe option for revealing brighter, smoother, and clearer skin. Additional treatments may be necessary to help you optimize your results. Series of microdermabrasion are offered at a discounted rate. Treatments can be performed every 4-6 weeks.
Microneedling is a minimally invasive cosmetic procedure that’s used to treat skin concerns by stimulating collagen production. Also known as collagen induction therapy, this treatment creates micro-punctures in the skin using miniature, sterilized needles. The skin’s healing process after microneedling stimulates collagen and elastin production, the proteins that keep your skin firm and smooth. This treatment is a great option for those looking to address: enlarged pores, fine lines or wrinkles, loose or crepey skin, acne scarring or other mild scarring, and skin discoloration. Suitable for all skin colors and most skin types. Microneedling is always recommended in a series with treatments performed 4-6 weeks apart for optimum results.
